Wardell Stephen Curry II was born on March 14, 1988, in Charlotte, North Carolina, the son of Dell Curry, who played 16 NBA seasons for the Charlotte Hornets. Growing up attending Hornets games as a player's son, the younger Curry developed a love for basketball and attended Charlotte Christian School through graduation. Too small to attract major recruiting attention, he chose Davidson College in Davidson, NC, where under coach Bob McKillop he led the Wildcats on a magical run to the 2008 NCAA Elite Eight — averaging 28.6 points per game in the tournament and becoming the most talked-about player in college basketball. Drafted 7th overall by the Golden State Warriors in 2009, Curry went on to redefine the game of basketball more profoundly than any player since Michael Jordan — specifically, by proving that the three-point shot could serve as a primary offensive weapon from distances that had never been seriously attempted. He won four NBA championships (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022), two regular season MVPs (including the first unanimous MVP in 2016), and became the all-time leader in three-pointers made — shattering the previous record he had already set and set again. The "Splash Brothers" era with Klay Thompson produced the most prolific outside-shooting team in basketball history. Born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina.
