Scottie Pippen was born on September 25, 1965, in Hamburg, Arkansas — a small south Arkansas town — and grew up the youngest of twelve children in a family with modest means. He was so lightly recruited out of Hamburg High School that he could only get a walk-on spot at the University of Central Arkansas, a small Division II school in Conway. He blossomed there into a complete player, was selected fifth overall in the 1987 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics and immediately traded to the Chicago Bulls, and went on to win six NBA championships alongside Michael Jordan from 1991 to 1998. Pippen was a seven-time All-Star, three-time All-NBA First Team selection, and ten-time NBA All-Defensive First Team selection — one of the greatest defensive wings in the history of the game. He was a key member of the 1992 United States Olympic "Dream Team." While he played in Jordan's shadow, basketball analysts widely regard Pippen as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport in his own right. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010.
