Sam Huff is a Pro Football Hall of Fame middle linebacker from Farmington, West Virginia, who helped define the position in the modern game. He starred at Farmington High School — where he played both ways — and went on to star at West Virginia University before being drafted by the New York Giants in 1956. Huff was a 5× NFL Pro Bowl selection and 5× All-Pro who anchored the Giants' legendary defenses that won the NFL championship in 1956. In 1960, he became the first defensive player to be featured on the cover of Time Magazine, and that same year CBS broadcast a special "The Violent World of Sam Huff," making him the NFL's first true defensive superstar. He also played for the Washington Redskins from 1964 to 1969. Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1982. Attended Farmington High School in Farmington, West Virginia.
