Russ Grimm grew up in Scottdale, Pennsylvania, in Westmoreland County, and attended Southmoreland High School before playing at the University of Pittsburgh. Drafted in the 3rd round by the Washington Redskins in 1981, Grimm became the anchor of the legendary "Hogs" offensive line that powered Washington to 3 Super Bowl victories (XVII, XXII, XXVI). A 4× Pro Bowl selection, Grimm was the road-grader at guard on one of the most physically dominant lines in NFL history. After retiring he became a highly regarded offensive line coach, working with the Pittsburgh Steelers for many years. Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
