Roger Staubach grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and attended Purcell High School before winning the 1963 Heisman Trophy at the United States Naval Academy. After fulfilling a four-year active duty commitment in the Navy — including a tour in Vietnam — he joined the Dallas Cowboys at age 27 in 1969. Despite the late start, "Captain Comeback" became one of the most celebrated quarterbacks of the 1970s, winning Super Bowls VI and XII and earning six Pro Bowl selections. He completed his career with a 23-4 postseason record and a passer rating that was the highest in NFL history at his retirement. Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985.
