Reggie Lewis was selected 22nd overall in the 1987 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics after a standout career at Northeastern University. A member of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School's legendary class that produced four future NBA players, Lewis developed into one of the Celtics' most dynamic scorers, earning an NBA All-Star selection in 1992 and later being named team captain. He averaged 20.8 points per game in the 1992–93 season. On July 27, 1993, Lewis collapsed and died while shooting free throws at Brandeis University, shocking the basketball world.
