Randy White was born in Wilmington, Delaware, and attended Thomas McKean High School before going to the University of Maryland, where he won the Outland Trophy and was a consensus All-American. The Dallas Cowboys selected him second overall in the 1975 NFL Draft and converted the college linebacker into a defensive tackle — one of the most consequential position changes in NFL history. White became the anchor of the legendary "Doomsday Defense" in Dallas, a player so relentlessly disruptive that he earned the nickname "The Manster" — half man, half monster. He was a nine-time Pro Bowler, an eight-time All-Pro selection, co-MVP of Super Bowl XII alongside Harvey Martin (the first time a defensive player won the award), and spent all 14 of his NFL seasons with the Cowboys. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1994 and remains the most accomplished athlete ever produced by the state of Delaware.
