Patrick Ewing was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and moved with his family to Cambridge, Massachusetts, at age 12, where he attended Cambridge Rindge and Latin School and developed into the most celebrated high school big man of his generation. At Georgetown University under coach John Thompson, he led the Hoyas to three Final Fours and the 1984 NCAA Championship. The New York Knicks selected him first overall in the 1985 NBA Draft. Standing 7 feet tall with elite footwork, mid-range shooting, and interior dominance, Ewing spent 15 seasons in New York and led the Knicks to 13 consecutive playoff appearances. He was an 11-time All-Star, a two-time Olympic gold medalist (1984, 1992 Dream Team), and the most beloved Knick of his era. Ewing was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008.
