Mike Munchak grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania, attended Scranton High School, and went on to Penn State before being drafted 8th overall by the Houston Oilers in 1982. Playing his entire 12-year career with the Oilers, Munchak became the standard for NFL guards in his era — a 9× Pro Bowl selection and the linchpin of the Houston offensive line during their run-and-shoot dynasty years with Warren Moon. Munchak was the prototypical combination of power, technique, and football intelligence that defined elite interior linemen. After retiring he became one of the NFL's most respected offensive line coaches, working with the Tennessee Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers. Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001.
