Louie Dampier was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and attended Southport High School before playing college ball at the University of Kentucky. The sharpshooting guard became the ABA's all-time leader in points, assists, and three-point field goals during nine seasons with the Kentucky Colonels, earning All-ABA honors five times. He helped deliver the Colonels' only ABA championship in 1975. Dampier was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015.
