LeBron James was born and raised in Akron, Ohio, and attended St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, where he was a national phenomenon before ever playing an NBA game — appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated as a junior under the headline "The Chosen One." Selected 1st overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003, James went on to become the most complete basketball player of his generation and arguably of all time: 4 NBA championships (2012, 2013 with Miami; 2016, 2020), 4 NBA Finals MVPs, 4 MVP awards, and the all-time NBA scoring record with over 40,000 career points. His 2016 championship — coming back from 3-1 down against the 73-win Golden State Warriors — is widely considered the greatest achievement in NBA history. Inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2024.
