LaVar Arrington grew up in Pittsburgh and played at North Hills Senior High School before becoming one of the most celebrated linebackers in Penn State history. Selected 2nd overall by the Washington Redskins in the 2000 NFL Draft, Arrington was a physical force who combined elite athleticism with pass-rushing ability rarely seen at linebacker — he could drop into coverage, blitz off the edge, and stop the run. A 3× Pro Bowl selection, Arrington was one of the most feared defenders in the NFL during Washington's defensive renaissance of the early 2000s.
