Larry Bird grew up in French Lick, Indiana and starred at Indiana State before the Boston Celtics selected him with the 6th pick of the 1978 NBA Draft. He spent his entire 13-year career in Boston, winning three NBA Championships (1981, 1984, 1986) and three consecutive MVP awards (1984–1986). Widely regarded as one of the greatest small forwards of all time, Bird was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1998 and later went on to coach and manage the Indiana Pacers.
