John Wooden was born in Hall, Indiana and was an All-American guard at Purdue University before beginning a legendary coaching career at UCLA. The "Wizard of Westwood" compiled an unmatched record of 10 NCAA championships in 12 years (1964–1975), including seven consecutive titles. Wooden was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player (1960) and a coach (1973), one of only a handful of individuals enshrined in both capacities.
