Joe Montana grew up in Monongahela, Pennsylvania, and starred at Ringgold High School before going on to Notre Dame, where he led the Fighting Irish to the 1977 national championship. Drafted in the 3rd round by the San Francisco 49ers in 1979, Montana became the defining quarterback of the 1980s — calm, accurate, and unflappable in the biggest moments. He won 4 Super Bowls (XVI, XIX, XXIII, XXIV), was never intercepted in Super Bowl play across 122 attempts, and earned 3 Super Bowl MVP awards. His 92-yard drive to win Super Bowl XXIII with 34 seconds left remains one of the most iconic plays in NFL history. Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.
