James Jett was one of the fastest players in NFL history, combining elite sprinting ability with reliable hands as a wide receiver. He grew up in Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia, in the Eastern Panhandle, and attended Jefferson High School before going on to West Virginia University. At the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Jett ran on the gold medal–winning USA 4×100-meter relay team, becoming a West Virginia Olympic hero. Drafted by the Oakland Raiders in 1993, he played 7 seasons in Oakland, finishing with over 3,900 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns. His combination of track speed and football skill made him a uniquely dangerous deep threat. Attended Jefferson High School in Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia.
