Gil Hodges was born in Princeton, Indiana and signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers as a teenager. A cornerstone of the storied "Boys of Summer," the powerful first baseman was an eight-time Gold Glove winner and three-time All-Star who helped Brooklyn win its first World Series title in 1955. He later managed the "Miracle Mets" to their stunning 1969 World Series championship before his sudden death in 1972. Hodges was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame posthumously in 2022.
