David Taylor Price was born on August 26, 1985, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and attended Siegel High School in Rutherford County before becoming one of the most dominant left-handed pitchers of his generation. He went on to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, where he was the consensus best pitcher in the country in 2007, going 11-1 with a 2.63 ERA and striking out 194 batters — a performance that made him the first overall pick in the 2007 MLB Draft, selected by the Tampa Bay Rays. With the Rays he developed into one of the top starters in the American League, winning the 2012 AL Cy Young Award with a 20-5 record and 2.56 ERA. He was traded multiple times to championship-contending clubs and finally won his World Series ring with the Boston Red Sox in 2018. A six-time MLB All-Star and one of the most decorated pitchers of the 2010s, Price is the most prominent professional athlete to emerge from Murfreesboro and a source of lasting pride in the Rutherford County community. Born and raised in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
