Dan Marino grew up in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood and starred at Central Catholic High School before playing college football at the University of Pittsburgh. Selected 27th overall by the Miami Dolphins in the 1983 NFL Draft, Marino went on to become one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, throwing for 61,361 career yards and 420 touchdowns over 17 seasons — all with Miami. In 1984 he set season records with 5,084 passing yards and 48 touchdown passes that stood for decades. Despite never winning a Super Bowl, Marino is universally regarded as one of the greatest pure passers the game has ever seen. Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
