Clyde Lovellette was born in Petersburg, Indiana and grew up in Terre Haute, where he starred at Garfield High School. After a dominant college career at Kansas — where he led the Jayhawks to the 1952 NCAA Championship — Lovellette became the first player in history to lead the nation in scoring and win an NCAA title in the same year. He won three NBA championships with the Minneapolis Lakers (1954) and Boston Celtics (1963, 1964). Lovellette was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1988.
