Chuck Howley is the only player in NFL history to win the Super Bowl MVP award while playing for the losing team. He grew up in Wheeling, West Virginia, and attended Warwood High School, where he lettered in five sports. After starring at West Virginia University, Howley was drafted in the first round by the Chicago Bears in 1958. He joined the Dallas Cowboys in 1961 and became one of the best outside linebackers of the 1960s and 1970s, earning 6 Pro Bowl selections and 5 All-Pro honors. In Super Bowl VI (Cowboys vs. Miami Dolphins, 1972), Howley was named MVP after intercepting Bob Griese twice and recovering a fumble — the Cowboys won that game. But it was at Super Bowl V (Cowboys vs. Colts, 1971), a Cowboys loss, where he was named MVP after two interceptions, making him the only Super Bowl MVP from a losing team in history. Attended Warwood High School in Wheeling, West Virginia.
