Chuck Bednarik — "Concrete Charlie" — is widely considered the last true 60-minute player in NFL history, playing both center on offense and linebacker on defense during the Eagles' 1960 NFL Championship season. He grew up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, attended Liberty High School, and served as a WWII bomber gunner before going to Penn on the G.I. Bill. Drafted 1st overall by the Eagles in 1949, Bednarik played his entire 14-year career in Philadelphia, making 8 Pro Bowls. His career-defining moment came on November 20, 1960, when he leveled Frank Gifford with a ferocious tackle — one of the most famous hits in NFL history — and then stood over him as Gifford lay unconscious. Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1967.
