Cal Ripken Jr. is one of the greatest players in baseball history, most famous for playing 2,632 consecutive games — a record that surpassed Lou Gehrig's "Iron Man" streak and stands as one of sports' most unbreakable records. Ripken grew up in Aberdeen, Maryland, where he starred at Aberdeen High School and hit .492 his senior year, leading the team to the state championship. He was selected in the 2nd round of the 1978 MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles and spent his entire 21-year career in Baltimore. A 2× American League MVP (1983, 1991), 19× All-Star, and 8× Gold Glove Award winner, Ripken hit 431 career home runs and drove in 1,695 runs. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007 with 98.5% of the vote. Attended Aberdeen High School in Aberdeen, Maryland.
