Bode Miller was born in Easton, New Hampshire, in the White Mountains, and grew up in a cabin without electricity or running water — an unconventional childhood that produced the most decorated American alpine ski racer in Olympic history. Across four Winter Olympics (2002, 2006, 2010, 2014) he won six medals — one gold, three silver, and two bronze — becoming the first American man to win gold in the super combined (Vancouver, 2010) and breaking records that had stood for generations. A five-time World Championship medalist and three-time overall World Cup champion, Miller was also the most exciting racer of his era — aggressive, technically brilliant, and willing to risk everything on every run. He was inducted into the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame in 2016.
