Bob "Boomer" Brown grew up in Cleveland and attended East Technical High School — the same storied school that produced Jesse Owens — before going to the University of Nebraska. Drafted 2nd overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1964, Brown was one of the most physically imposing offensive tackles the game had seen: 6'4", 280 lbs., with extraordinary foot speed and upper-body power. His three teams (Eagles, Rams, Raiders) each considered him a cornerstone of their offensive line. A 6× Pro Bowl selection, Brown was held by many of his contemporaries to be the most dominant offensive lineman of his era — his Hall of Fame enshrinement in 2004 was long overdue.
