Vernell "Bimbo" Coles was a standout NBA point guard from Lewisburg, West Virginia, and one of the most prolific scorers in Virginia Tech history. He attended Greenbrier East High School in Lewisburg before starring at Virginia Tech, where he became the first player to lead the Metro Conference in scoring three straight years. Selected 40th overall in the 1990 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics, Coles played 15 NBA seasons for teams including the Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, New Jersey Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Milwaukee Bucks, averaging over 4 assists per game for his career. Attended Greenbrier East High School in Lewisburg, West Virginia.
