Billy Ripken followed his famous older brother Cal to Aberdeen High School and into a professional baseball career. Signed by the Baltimore Orioles as an undrafted free agent in 1982, he spent most of his 12-year MLB career (1987–1998) as a sure-handed second baseman with the Orioles, forming the first-ever all-brother middle infield combination in major league history alongside brother Cal at shortstop. He also played for the Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, and San Francisco Giants. Known for his defensive skill and baseball intelligence, Billy became famous off the field for the notorious 1989 Fleer baseball card that featured obscene writing on the knob of his bat. Attended Aberdeen High School in Aberdeen, Maryland.
