Elizabeth Ann "Beth" Daniel was born on October 14, 1956, in Charleston, South Carolina, and attended Bishop England High School before going on to Furman University in Greenville, SC, where she became one of the greatest amateur golfers in the history of women's college athletics — winning consecutive U.S. Women's Amateur championships in 1975 and 1976 and the Curtis Cup in 1976 and 1978. She turned professional in 1979 and quickly established herself as one of the LPGA Tour's elite players. Daniel won 33 LPGA Tour events, including two major championships — the 1990 LPGA Championship and the 1994 du Maurier Classic — and led the LPGA money list three times. She won at least one tournament in 14 consecutive seasons (1979–1992), a remarkable record of sustained excellence, and was named LPGA Player of the Year in 1980 and 1990. Known for her consistent ball-striking and competitive toughness on the course, Daniel was one of the defining figures of women's professional golf in the 1980s and 1990s and a trailblazer for South Carolina's golf culture in an era before the state became famous as a golfing destination. She was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1999. Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina.
