Archie Griffin grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and attended Eastmoor High School before writing the most celebrated chapter in college football history at Ohio State. Under Woody Hayes, Griffin won the Heisman Trophy in both 1974 and 1975 — the only player in college football history to win the award twice — and started in four consecutive Rose Bowls. Though his NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals was modest, his legacy in Columbus and in the sport is enormous. The Archie Griffin Award, given annually to the top college football player in the state of Ohio, bears his name, and he served as president and CEO of the Ohio State Alumni Association for 17 years.
