Alan Page grew up in Canton, Ohio — appropriately, the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame — and attended Central Catholic High School before becoming an All-American at Notre Dame. Drafted 15th overall by the Minnesota Vikings in 1967, Page anchored the "Purple People Eaters" defensive line that made the Vikings one of the most feared defenses of the era. In 1971 he became the first defensive player in NFL history to win the league MVP award. A 9× Pro Bowl selection, he also finished his law degree during his playing career and became an associate justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court in 1993. Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1988.
